Product Information
A very well done portrait of a child from the mid 1800’s. Since the lower part of the painting is unfinished, it is likely that the painting was done after the child died, a common custom of the time. The owner of the shop where we purchased this painting said it was by a prominent Tennessee artist who sometimes did watercolor portraits, but is is not marked and such verbal provenance is worthless, but it was surely done by an accomplished artist. The curly hair is beautifully done. The frame is from the period and both frame and painting are in very good condition. Approximately 16″ square overall.
